About Parijatha Roller Flour Mills – Food & Beverages in Ahmedabad
We’ve been running the flour mill at 19 Mysore Deviation Road for a long time. The whole place smells like grain and earth, which is something you get used to after a week. It’s a noisy building because the rollers are always going. We get truckloads of wheat and other grains coming in at odd hours. Our machines are old but we keep them in good shape because they do the job better than some of the newer ones we've seen. There’s always a fine layer of white dust over everything, no matter how much we sweep. The workers here are mostly from the nearby area. We don't have a big corporate structure or fancy titles. I’m usually in the office or out checking the bags. People come by to pick up flour for their shops or homes. We’ve seen the road outside change a lot over the years. Mysore Deviation Road used to be much quieter. Now it’s a constant stream of cars and buses. We just keep doing what we know. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving bags around and loading them onto carts. Sometimes the belt snaps or a motor burns out and we have to spend the night fixing it so we don't fall behind. It’s not a glamorous life but people always need flour. We just try to keep the machines running without too much trouble. It’s just how it is here. We get by and keep the bags moving.
