Maruti Masala

Maruti Masala is located over in the Tekara Vali Chawl area. If you find the Idgha Petrol Pump outside the Dariyapur Gate, we are just tucked away behind it. It’s an old part of town, and our workspace reflects that. It’s small and usually smells like ground turmeric or chili, depending on what we’re grinding that day. We aren't a big automated factory. A lot of the work here is still done the old way, watching the machines and making sure the spices are right. The air can get a bit spicy, which makes everyone sneeze if they aren't used to it. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a long time. People around Dariyapur Gate know the smell of our place. We don’t do any big advertising or anything like that. We just grind the masalas and sell them to whoever stops by or the local shops that carry our stuff. It’s a simple setup. The building is a bit old, and the street is narrow, so it can be a bit tricky to get to if you’re in a big car. But that’s just how it is in this part of the city. We like being here. It’s got a lot of history. We just show up, do the grinding, pack it up, and start again the next day. It’s honest work that keeps us busy and the kitchen cupboards of our neighbors full of good flavor.
