Our place is out on the Ahmedabad Dholka Highway, specifically in Miroli village. It’s a bit of a drive from the city center, but we like being out here where there's room for the weaving machines. MAPS Texweave started because we wanted to do our own thing with textiles. The Survey 522 plot is quite large, so we have space for everything. It’s mostly just the sounds of looms and people talking over the noise. We deal with weaving mostly. It’s not a glamorous job. You end up with thread on your clothes by the end of the shift. We see a lot of trucks passing by on the highway every day. The office is small and usually has a stack of registers on the table. We don't do much advertising. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they saw our sign on the road. Daskroi is a good area for this kind of business. We’ve got a small crew of locals who know their way around the equipment. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to wait a bit, but that's just how it is. We focus on the daily output. No big speeches about values or anything like that. We just weave the fabric and make sure the count is right before it goes on the truck. It’s steady work. We’ve been here at Miroli for a bit now and intend to stay.
