Amarlal Masala

You can find us over at Plot No-89 in the Gidc Estate, which is right near Lunavala Road. It’s an industrial area, so there are always trucks moving and the sound of machines in the distance. Amarlal Masala is based in a plain building that doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside, it's a different story because the air is always thick with the scent of ground spices. We have to wear masks sometimes when the grinding is going on because it gets pretty intense. The walls are a bit stained from the different powders, but that’s just what happens in this line of work. Working in the Gidc Estate means we are surrounded by other businesses doing their own thing. It can get very hot in the afternoons, especially back where the machinery is. We spend most of the day packing things into boxes and getting them ready to go out. The floor is usually covered in a fine layer of spice dust no matter how much we sweep. Lunavala Road is always busy, so we hear the honking of horns all day long. It isn't a quiet or clean job, but it’s what we do. We just keep our heads down and make sure the work gets done before we head home for the evening. It's honest work for us, even if the building is a bit old and dusty.
