Mughal Marbles

Mughal Marbles is located at E-23 on Gopi Chand Shivhare Road right in Sadar Bazar. If you know Sadar, you know it’s always crowded and there’s always something happening on every corner. We have slabs of stone leaning against the walls and the smell of wet marble and dust is pretty much constant. It’s a heavy business. We spend the day measuring things out and showing people different patterns in the stone. The road outside is narrow, so when a delivery truck comes, it’s always a bit of a struggle to get everything moved without blocking the whole street. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. It’s a small shop but we make use of every inch of it. There is no air conditioning, just the old ceiling fans and the coolness that comes off the big stone slabs themselves. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or websites that look like they belong to some big corporation. We just know our stone and we talk to people who come in. Most of the time it’s local builders or folks fixing up their own kitchens. It’s a lot of dust and heavy lifting. My back usually aches by five o’clock. But it’s a good trade. Sadar Bazar has its own rhythm and we are just a small part of that. We like being where the action is on Gopi Chand Shivhare Road. It feels like home now.
