Bansal Marble Company

Bansal Marble Company is right here on Chhipitola Road in the Bansal Building. If you walk past 24/147, you’ll see the slabs leaning against the walls. It’s a bit crowded inside. We have marble from different places, mostly white and grey stuff. My brother and I run the place now. It gets very loud when we have to cut a piece to size. The water runs over the blade to keep the dust down, but it still gets everywhere. Our shoes are always white from the stone powder. People come in looking for something for their kitchen or a small bathroom floor. We show them what we have in the back. Some pieces have cracks or veins that people don't like, so we have to move things around to find the right one. It's heavy work. We use these old rollers and iron bars to shift the big slabs. It's not a fancy showroom. We just have the stone and a few chairs for people to sit while we talk about the price. Sometimes the traffic on Chhipitola Road makes it hard to unload the trucks. We have to do it fast before the police tell us to move. It's been our family's way of making a living for a long time. We just try to get the orders done and keep the floor swept, though it never stays clean for long.
