Chavan Patil Agro Producer Company Limited is based in Kolegaon, over in Jafrabaad. We are located at Digamber Chavhan’s place. It is a local operation through and through. All of us involved are farmers who have lived in Kolegaon our whole lives. We know every path and every field around here. We decided to start this company because we were tired of being at the mercy of the big traders who do not know anything about the soil. We wanted a way to pool our resources and maybe get a better deal for everyone in the village. It is a simple setup, nothing like the offices you see in the cities. We have a few desks and a lot of registers. Most of our meetings happen while we are working or during a break under a tree. We deal with the realities of farming every day—the lack of water, the cost of diesel, and the changing weather. We do not have any promotional speeches to give. We just work hard and try to stay honest. If we can help a neighbor get a better price for their grain, then the company is doing its job. We are just trying to build something that lasts for our kids, so they do not have to struggle as much as we did. It is just us, the land, and our community. We do not need things to be polished.
