Sri Kalyani Fish Nets

Sri Kalyani Fish Nets is right on the Main Road in the W.G. District. It’s a good spot because everyone passes by here eventually. The shop is usually full of nets and twine, and you can smell the nylon as soon as you walk in. It’s a bit dusty because of the traffic on the Main Road, but that’s just part of being in this area. We spend most of our time measuring out nets or talking to the local fishermen who come in to see what we have. We don't have a computer system for everything, so a lot of it is done by hand in big notebooks. The light in the back is a bit dim, but we know the inventory well enough that it doesn't matter. It can get really hot during the middle of the day, so we usually have the big front doors wide open. Sometimes a dog will wander in to get out of the sun, and we just let it stay for a bit. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a practical place for people who need fish nets. We’ve been here for years and the locals know us by name. We just try to keep enough stock so that when someone needs something, it’s ready for them. It’s a quiet way to make a living and we don't need much more than that.
