Stick Craft

You can find us at Plot No. 1 in Pandav Nagar, which is really close to the Shadipur Metro Station. If you stand outside our door, you can hear the trains rumbling past every few minutes. It’s a bit noisy, but you get used to it after a week or two. Stick Craft started out as a small project in a garage before we moved into this space. We do a lot of work with wood and bamboo here. There’s almost always a layer of sawdust on everything, no matter how much we sweep up at the end of the day. The smells of glue and cut timber are pretty strong when you first walk in. We spend a lot of time sanding things down by hand because the machines don’t always get the edges right. It’s hard work on the hands, and we usually go through a lot of bandages and tape. We don’t have a fancy front desk or anyone to greet you; you just kind of walk in and find one of us in the back with a saw or a brush. Sometimes we have to move all the benches just to make room for a big order that needs to be packed. It’s a bit cramped, especially when we have a lot of raw materials delivered at once. But it’s our space, and we know where every tool is kept, even if it looks like chaos to someone else.
