Bastar Handicrafts

If you ever find yourself near the Dashara Ground in Vikash Puri, you might see Bastar Handicrafts. We are located right there in West Delhi, and it is a pretty lively spot to be. During the festivals, the ground nearby gets really busy with crowds, but on a normal day, it is just our usual neighborhood. Our shop is filled with all kinds of items made from wood and metal, the kind of stuff you’d expect from the Bastar region. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside with all the statues and decorative pieces taking up every inch of space. We take pride in showing people the details on the items, though we aren't great at the sales talk. We just let the work speak for itself. It’s a bit dusty in here sometimes because of the road work outside, but we try to keep the pieces clean. Being near the Dashara Ground means we get a lot of people just wandering in to look around while they are out for a walk. We’ve been here in Vikash Puri for quite some time now, and we know most of the other shopkeepers on the block. It’s a simple life, surrounded by these traditional things that have a lot of history behind them. We just open the doors and see who the day brings, often staying late if someone is interested in the art.
