We work out of No. 3257 on the second floor in Old Ranjit Nagar, which is part of South Patel Nagar. Since we work with metal, there’s usually a lot of noise coming from our floor. Hammering, cutting, and grinding are the sounds you hear most of the day. It’s not the quietest office for sure. The air smells like iron and sometimes there are sparks if you look closely at what we are doing. We make all sorts of things out of metal. It’s a messy process and our clothes always end up with black marks on them by the end of the shift. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep, so carrying materials up can be a real workout. We don't have a showroom or anything fancy like that. Our work is spread out across the tables and the floor. We just focus on the pieces we are making. Sometimes a project takes longer because the metal doesn't want to bend the right way, but we keep at it until it's right. It’s a small team here and we’ve all been doing this for years. We know the machines and we know how to handle the heat. It’s honest work that leaves your hands dirty but gives you a sense of accomplishment. The neighborhood is crowded, but we like being right in the middle of it. It is noisy and dirty work but we enjoy making things.
