S. S. Sheet Metal

Our shop, S. S. Sheet Metal, is tucked away in Khayala Vishnu Garden at C 272. If you know this area, you know it is crowded and the lanes are narrow. We have been working with metal sheets here for quite some time. The sound of shearing and bending is constant from about nine in the morning until we close up at night. The floor is usually covered in scrap pieces and metal shavings, though we try to sweep it out every evening. We have some heavy machinery for cutting and pressing that takes up most of the room. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have a lot of material delivered. Khayala is a busy place, and there is always something happening outside the door. We handle all sorts of sheet metal work, from simple boxes to more complicated shapes that people need for their own projects. We don't use fancy computer programs much; it's more about using the tape measure and marking things out by hand. The workers here have been at it for years, so they know how the metal reacts when you hit it or bend it. It gets very hot in the summer under the tin roof, but we just keep the water bottles full and keep moving. It is not a polished showroom, just a hard-working metal shop where we try to get the dimensions right and the edges smooth.
