As A Detailing Of Steel Structure Fabrication Draftsman

My desk is covered in drawings and rulers here in Nangloi. Being a draftsman for steel structures means looking at a lot of lines all day. The shop is at E-1/109 in Shiv Ram Park. It's not the quietest neighborhood in New Delhi, but it works for what we do. I spend my time detailing how these big metal frames fit together. If a line is off by a tiny bit, nothing works right on the site later. I've seen plenty of projects come and go through these doors. Some days I'm just hunched over the computer screen until my eyes get tired. People think it's just drawing, but there is a lot of math involved too. New Delhi is always building something new, so there is always a blueprint that needs finishing. I grew up around here and decided to stay local. The office is small, just enough space for the equipment and some old files stacked in the corner. We don't do anything flashy. It's just about getting the steel fabrication plans right so the builders don't have problems. If you walk past Shiv Ram Park, you might see us working late. It is just the way the job goes. I like the feeling of finishing a complicated set of plans. It feels like I've built something real, even if it's just on paper for now, and it keeps the mind sharp after all these years.
