R K Steel Engineering has been sitting here at S-31 in Karkardooma for quite some years now. It isn't a quiet place by any means because there is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the hum of the welding machines going on through the day. We spend most of our time dealing with iron bars and heavy plates, making sure things are cut to the right size for whatever project is being built in the area. Most days we are covered in dust and grease, but that is just how it is when you work with steel. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a practical space where we get the work done. Some people come in looking for a simple gate repair while others need bigger structural pieces. We usually have a few guys working in the back, and the tea stall nearby keeps us going when the afternoon gets long and hot. Karkardooma is a busy spot, and there is always something being constructed or fixed, so we stay pretty occupied. It’s hard work, and sometimes the machines act up or the delivery of raw material gets delayed because of the traffic on the main road. We don't have fancy office chairs or air conditioning here. It’s just us, our tools, and the piles of metal waiting to be shaped. We take each job as it comes and try to finish it so we can move on to the next one.
