Being right near the Subhash Nagar Metro Station in New Delhi means we are always in the middle of a crowd. Meenakshi Garden is a busy spot, and our place at Wz-20 is no exception. We do metal forging, which is a loud, hot, and heavy business. You can usually hear us before you see us. The vibration from the hammers is just part of the daily rhythm. Delhi summers are brutal when you’re working with hot metal, but we’ve got some big fans and we drink a lot of water. We’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers don’t even notice the noise anymore. We handle mostly small to medium forgings for various industries. It’s a family-run kind of feel even though we’re a private limited. Most of us have been working here for years and we know the machines better than we know our own cars. The metro being so close is handy for the workers getting home, but the traffic for the trucks is a nightmare during rush hour. We don’t do much advertising. People usually find out about us through word of mouth or because they saw the sign near the station. We just want to keep the hammers moving and the orders going out on time. It’s simple work in a complicated city, and we’re happy enough with that. It’s a tough trade but someone’s got to do it right.
