Lailas Art

Our shop is at B-2/128-A, right across from the metro station in Rajouri Garden. It’s a very busy spot because of the trains, so there is a constant stream of people walking past our door all day long. We spend a lot of our time at Lailas Art just trying to keep the dust off everything, since the station area can get a bit messy. Most of the day involves looking over the different pieces we have and making sure they are displayed in a way that makes sense. It’s not a huge place, so we have to be careful about how we use the space we have. The noise of the metro pulling in and out is something we don’t even notice anymore, though it can be loud for people who aren't used to it. We don't really do much fancy marketing; we just rely on being in a spot where people happen to walk by. Sometimes we just sit and watch the crowd from the doorway when things are slow. Madangir and Rajouri Garden are both pretty lively areas, so there is never a dull moment. We just keep things running in a very basic way, focusing on the daily chores and making sure the shop stays open for the usual hours. It’s a lot of work just staying organized in such a high-traffic area, but we like being right in the middle of everything that is happening outside.
