Genious Art

Our place is tucked away near the Pusa Institute, right by Inder Puri and the old Dusghada Village area in Patel Nagar. It is a busy spot with people always walking back and forth to the institute. The shop itself is not very large, but we keep it filled with all sorts of art supplies and things we have collected over the years. Some days the dust from the road gets inside, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the shelves and making sure everything is in the right place. Most of our neighbors are folks who have lived in Patel Nagar for a long time, so we see the same faces every morning. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It is just a workspace where we get things done. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. It is a bit loud with the traffic coming from the main road, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a lot of our time sorting through brushes and canvases or talking to the students who wander in from the nearby campus. It is a quiet life for the most part, just focus on the work at hand and making sure the supplies are stocked. The floor is a bit uneven in the back room, so we have to be careful when moving the heavier boxes around.
