If you come down to 54A/B-6 in the Rama Road Industrial Area, you’ll find us right in the middle of all the noise and trucks. Ankita Exports has been in this spot for a while. The air is always a bit dusty from the factories nearby and there is usually a line of vehicles waiting to load or unload something. Inside our space, it’s mostly just rows of shelves and packing tables. We don’t have air conditioning in the main warehouse area, so it gets pretty hot in the middle of summer. We just keep the fans going and keep moving. Our days are filled with checking labels and making sure the counts are right before things go out. It isn't a glamorous job. Most of us wear old clothes because you’re bound to get some grease or dirt on you by noon. We eat lunch together on the small benches outside when the weather allows for it. The stairs are a bit steep and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re too busy for that. We focus on the crates and the logistics. It’s a lot of physical work and staying on top of the paperwork that comes with exporting. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the drivers and the other business owners on Rama Road by their first names.
