Working at Chuneri Haryana Govt.Emporium in Uttam Nagar is an interesting experience. Our shop is located in T.A. Om Vihar, and it’s a place where we keep a lot of traditional stuff from Haryana. Being a government emporium, things are done a certain way, but it still feels like a local shop. We have stacks of fabrics and handmade items all over the place. It’s not a modern mall kind of store. It’s more crowded and has that specific smell of hand-woven cloth. Most of us who work here have been around for quite a while. We know the history of the items we sell, but we don't go on about it unless someone asks. New Delhi is a big place, and Uttam Nagar is a busy corner of it. We get all sorts of people walking in, some just looking and some who know exactly what they want. The lighting isn't perfect, and the shelves are a bit old, but the products are real. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just open the doors in the morning and wait for people to come in. It’s a quiet life for the most part, even with the traffic noise outside. We take pride in the stuff from our home state, even if we don't say it out loud much. It’s just an honest place to find some traditional things without the fancy price tags.
