Working out of Wh-76 in Mayapuri Phase-I means you get used to the grit and the constant movement of the industrial zone. Our side of the building is dedicated to the casting side of things. It's a heavy kind of work. The air always has that smell of hot metal and sand, and you can't really keep your clothes clean for more than ten minutes. We start early, usually before the traffic on the main road gets too thick, and we stay until the last batch is handled. The space isn't huge, so we have to be careful about where we stack things so we don't trip over each other. There’s a rhythm to it, even when things look messy. Some of the guys have been doing this for twenty years and can tell if something is right just by looking at it. We don't spend much on decorations or fancy signs because that’s not what we’re about. We just need the lights to work and the tools to be where they belong. Sometimes we have tea breaks outside near the gate just to catch a bit of a breeze. It’s a tough environment, but it’s what we know. Being in Phase-I puts us right in the middle of everything, which makes it easier to get parts or talk to other workshops nearby. It's not a place for everyone, but we like it and it keeps us busy.
