You can find us over at Vinesh Wamanrao Kakade’s place, which is a new duplex in the Mhada Colony in Wardha. Specifically, it’s House Number M48. It might seem a bit different having a company like Varada Shetakari Utpadak Producer Company Limited based in a colony like this, but it works for us. We are just a bunch of local farmers who decided that doing things alone wasn't getting us anywhere. In Wardha, everyone knows that farming is a gamble every year. You wait for the monsoon, you hope the seeds take, and then you hope the pests stay away. We spend a lot of our time talking about the soil and what we need to buy for the next season. It isn't always smooth sailing, and we definitely have our share of disagreements about how things should be run, but that is just how it goes when you have a lot of different people involved. We aren't trying to be some big city corporation with polished floors and suits. We’re mostly in our work clothes, dealing with the real problems that come up on the farm. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much for us, but we get through it. The main thing is just keeping the local farming community together so we can actually have a say in what happens to our crops after they leave the field. It’s honest work and we do it the best way we know how.
