Nisargmantra Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are located in Sawana over in the Mahagaon area. Nisargmantra Farmers Producer Company Limited is the name we chose. Santosh Sakharam Deshmukh is the one who handles the day-to-day stuff at his house. We are just a bunch of local farmers who decided to team up. It is a small village, so everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We are definitely not a big company with a lobby or fancy furniture. We mostly meet on the porch or out in the fields when the sun is going down. Farming around here can be very tricky because the rain is never quite right. We try to focus on natural ways to grow our crops because we think it is better for the soil. It is hard work and it usually doesn't pay very much at the end of the year. But it is what our families have always done. My brother and I spend most of our time out there with the animals and the fields. We wanted a way to get our produce to the bigger towns without feeling like we were getting cheated. It has been a big learning process for every one of us. Sometimes we make mistakes with the government forms or the timing of the trucks. We are just learning as we go. We do not have any brochures. Just some honest people trying to live off the land in Mahagaon. It is tough but we like the work.
