Nagputri Mahila Farmer Producer Companylimited is based in Bori Khurd, which is a small post in the Pusad area of Yavatmal. Our office is located at Vadana Baban Jadhav’s house, right near the Boudh Vihar. We are a team of local women who decided that we could do more if we pooled our resources instead of working separately. Life in Pusad revolves around the seasons, and we spend most of our time dealing with whatever crop is in the ground at the moment. Whether it's cotton or grain, we try to handle the selling ourselves so we don't have to rely on middle men who take all the profit. It's not always easy. Sometimes the transport doesn't show up or the weather ruins a batch, and we all have to chip in to fix the problem. Our meetings happen in the courtyard or inside Vadana's house, and there is usually a lot of tea and talk about the kids and the crops. We don't use big words or have a complicated business plan. We just look at what we have and see how we can sell it for a fair price. It's a lot of learning on the fly, especially with the government rules for producer companies. We just keep at it because it's our own business and it belongs to the women of Bori Khurd.
