We are located at number 43 in Kora, which is part of Samudrapur. It’s a quiet area for the most part, except during the harvest season. That’s when everything gets loud and very fast. We decided to set this up because we were tired of losing money to people who didn't understand how hard we work. Now, we handle things ourselves. We gather the produce from the surrounding fields and get it ready for transport to the city. There are a few of us who run the day-to-day stuff. We spend a lot of time looking at the sky, hoping for rain but not too much of it at once. It’s a delicate balance. Our office is just a simple room where we keep our logs and some samples of what we've grown recently. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by candlelight to finish the counting at the end of the month. It’s not fancy. The walls could use a bit of paint but we'd rather spend that money on better quality seeds. We know every farmer in this part of Kora by their name. We grew up together in these fields. When someone has a problem with their crop, we all go over to take a look and see what can be done. It’s just how things are done here. We don't use big spreadsheets or fancy computers much. Most of it is written down in notebooks or just kept in our heads. We just want to do right by the land and our families. It’s honest work.
