We started this little group here in Ghod Valley because it felt like the right thing for us farmers to do. Most of us have been working these fields around Takli Haji for years, just like our fathers did before us. We usually meet up at Rohidas Santa Ghode’s place to talk about what needs doing for the next season. It is not a big office or anything fancy, just a room where we can sit and figure out how to handle our crops better. Farming in this part of the country isn't always easy, and sometimes the market prices make you want to give up entirely. By getting together as Ghod Valley Farmers Producer Company Limited, we try to help each other out with seeds or figuring out where to sell what we grow. It is mostly just about making sure everyone gets a fair shake. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy letters for us. It is just a few of us who know the dirt and the weather around here. We spend most of our days out in the sun, so when we get home, the last thing we want to do is paperwork. But we know it’s important to stay organized if we want to keep the farms going for the kids. Takli Haji is a quiet spot, and we like it that way. We are just local people trying to make a living from the land we know. We don’t really care much for titles, we just want to see the harvest come in good.
