Rathnam Tent House

We are over at Madigudem in Kothaguda, house number 2-74. This is Warangal district. We have all the things needed for a small function or a gathering. Tents, chairs, and some lighting. It is a lot of physical work. We have to pack the poles and the cloths onto the rickshaw and take them to the site. My sons help me with the heavy lifting. We spend most of our time untangling ropes and cleaning the fabric after a party. People in the village come to us when they have a wedding or a prayer meeting. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Everything is stored in the back of the house and in the shed. Sometimes the weather is bad and we have to hurry to take the tents down before the wind rips them. It’s a bit of a gamble with the rain here. We’ve been doing this for many years, so we know which spots in the village are good for setting up. The chairs are plastic and they need a lot of scrubbing because they get dusty fast. It’s not a glamorous job but it’s what we do. We like being part of the local events. You see everyone when they are happy at a celebration. We just provide the shade and the seats. It’s a busy life during the marriage season, then it gets quiet for a while and we just wait for the next call.
