Vijaya High School

We’ve been here at Door No 21-28 in Yanamalakuduru for a long time now. Most people in Vijayawada know where we are, right near the main stretch. It’s a busy spot, but inside the gates of Vijaya High School, things follow a different rhythm. You’ll see the cycle rickshaws lining up outside every morning and the kids running in with their bags half-zipped. The building isn't brand new or anything, it has its marks and some chipped paint here and there, but it stays cool enough when the sun gets hot. Our classrooms have those heavy wooden desks that have seen plenty of use over the years. We spend a lot of time just keeping things moving. The teachers usually gather in the small staff room with their steel tiffins during the break. There is always a bit of noise from the playground during lunch, which is just how a school should be. Sometimes the bells don’t ring exactly on the dot because someone got distracted, but we manage. People around here know us as the school down the road that’s just part of the neighborhood. We don’t have fancy glass walls or air conditioning in every room. It’s just a plain place where kids come to learn their lessons and wait for the final bell so they can head home. We just keep the doors open and do the work day after day without much fuss.
