D.A.V. School Ganj Basoda

We are tucked away here on Old Post Office Road in the Patamatalanka area of Vijayawada. People usually find us by looking for Door No 64-6-2, which is where the school has been sitting for quite a while now. It is a busy part of the city, so there is always some noise from the street outside, but once you step inside the gates, it feels a bit different. The classrooms have high ceilings and the floors are that old kind of tile you do not see much anymore. Most of the staff live nearby, so we just walk or take a short auto ride to get here in the morning. It is not a very fancy place, just a regular school where kids come to learn their lessons. You can hear the teachers talking through the open windows when the fans are spinning on hot days. We have a small yard where everyone gathers for the morning assembly before the sun gets too high in the sky. Usually, by mid-afternoon, the shade hits the front steps and that is where the older students hang out for a bit before going home. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, but the school stays pretty much the same. We have the same old wooden desks and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint soon. It is just a practical spot for the families living around here. Nothing more than a place to get through the books.
