City Convent & High School

City Convent & High School is over in Moghalraja Puram, which is a well-known part of Vijayawada. The school has been sitting here for many years. It’s a solid building, though you can tell it’s been through many monsoons. We have several floors, and the kids spend a lot of time running up and down the concrete stairs between classes. The classrooms are filled with those heavy wooden benches that have been around for a long time. We don’t have air conditioning, so the windows are always wide open to catch whatever breeze comes through. In the morning, the whole place smells like the breakfast the neighbors are cooking nearby. We don’t have a lot of modern gadgets or screens in every room. Most teaching is done with chalk and talk, just like it was years ago. The playground is paved, so it gets quite hot in the afternoon sun. We have a small staff who have mostly been here for a long time. We know the shopkeepers on the corner and the people who live in the apartments next door. It’s a very integrated part of the local community here. We don’t have a fancy website or a big social media presence. We just open the gates every morning at eight and stay until the last student goes home. It’s just a regular school life in the middle of Vijayawada for the local kids.
