C S I School Of Nursing has been a fixture on Brough Road in Kaikolar Thottam for a long time. It’s tucked away near Post Box No 4. If you come by, you’ll see students in their uniforms rushing around. It’s a busy place because training to be a nurse isn't easy. There is always someone studying or practicing in the labs. We have many students staying in the hostel, so the building never really sleeps. The hallways are usually quiet during class time, but you can hear the murmur of lectures. We focus on the practical side of things because that’s what the hospitals need. It’s not always pretty. Sometimes the equipment is old and we have to share, but the students learn to be resourceful. The staff here are mostly experienced nurses themselves who have seen it all. We don’t have much time for fluff. It’s about learning how to take care of people properly. The garden area is small, but it’s a good spot for the students to sit for a minute between their shifts and classes. We have our fair share of paperwork and bureaucratic headaches, just like any other place. It gets stressful during exam season, and you can see the tired faces. But we just keep going. It’s just what we do here in this corner of the city. We try to keep the uniforms crisp even if the building is a bit worn.
