Started things up here on Kedarghat Road because we know the area well. Being close to Sonarpura means there is always something happening outside our door. Most days involve sitting at the desk and taking calls about train bookings or car rentals for people visiting the ghats. It isn’t fancy office work. We have a small space in Bhelupura where we keep our records and meet people who need a ride or a plan for their day. Varanasi can be a bit much if you don't know where you are going, so we just try to get the details right for whoever walks in. It’s mostly local stuff, nothing too complicated. The traffic on this road can get stuck in the afternoons, but that is just how it is around here. We’ve seen the streets change over the years, though the basic way we handle things stays the same. Just showing up, opening the shutters, and talking to travelers. Sometimes a cup of tea lasts longer than a booking conversation. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in town, just a steady spot near the river. If the phone rings, we answer it. If someone needs a taxi to the station, we find one. It is a simple way of making a living in a city that never really stops moving. We just keep our heads down and do the paperwork.
