Groovy Tours

It’s usually pretty humid here in Lanka when we open up in the morning. Groovy Tours isn’t some big corporate thing with a glass building. We just have a small spot where we keep the keys and the maps. Most days start with checking the tires and making sure the air conditioning in the vans is actually working because nobody wants to sit in a hot car for five hours. I’ve been doing this for a while now, mostly just helping people get from one side of the island to the other without too much trouble. Sometimes the roads are blocked by something random, or the rain comes down so hard you can’t see the hood of the car, but we manage. We aren’t fancy. The office desk has a bit of a wobble and the kettle takes forever to boil, but it’s where we do the work. My cousin helps out with the bookings when things get busy during the season. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just waiting for people to arrive at the meeting points. It’s a lot of driving, honestly. You see the same trees and the same tea stalls every day, but it changes depending on who is sitting in the back seat. We just try to keep the cars clean and the petrol tanks full so there aren't any delays. It’s just us here, making sure the trips happen like they’re supposed to.
