You can find us over at Saudan Singh’s place in Nagla Akkhe. It’s near Pathauli in the Agra area. We are the Soudan Farmer Producer Company Limited. The name sounds official but we are just the same farmers who have been here for years. We decided that working alone wasn't cutting it anymore. The costs for everything like diesel and fertilizer keep going up. By coming together, we can share some of those burdens. We aren't looking to become some huge company. We just want to make sure the people in our village can keep their farms running. Saudan Singh is the one who handles the paperwork because he’s good with that stuff. We spend most of our time out in the sun. Agra can get very hot and that affects the crops. We share tips on when to sow and when to wait. It’s not a perfect system but it’s ours. We don't have any flashy brochures or a big website. Most people just walk over to the house if they have a question. We help each other with the harvest when the time comes. It takes a lot of hands to get the work done. We are just practical people doing what we know. Life in Nagla Akkhe is about the land and the people on it. We hope to stay strong for a long time.
