Kala Prasad is based in Kashi Nagar. We are just a local bunch of farmers who decided to get organized. Most of us have lived in this area our whole lives, and we’ve been working the land since we were kids. It’s not a fancy operation at all. We don't have a big building with a sign out front. We just meet up where we can to talk about the farming business. The main thing we do is try to coordinate our harvests so we aren't all fighting for the same buyers at the same time. It’s a practical way to handle things. Kashi Nagar is where we live and breathe. You can usually find us out in the sun, tending to whatever is in season. We don't use any of that corporate talk because that’s not who we are. We are people with calloused hands and dirt under our fingernails. Sometimes the crops don't do well, and those are the tough times, but we lean on each other to get through. We aren't looking to expand into some massive empire. We just want to make a decent living and keep our families fed. We deal with the daily struggles of farming, like broken equipment or late rains. It’s just honest work. We aren't doing anything special, just trying to be a bit smarter about how we sell what we grow right here in our own backyard. It’s just us doing what we know best to keep things going.
