We started this group over at Saheb Lal’s place in Rampur, right here in Sadar. Most of us have been farming around Jaunpur for as long as we can remember. It gets tough out here sometimes with the way the weather changes and how hard it is to get a fair price for what we grow. We just figured it was better to work as a team instead of everyone trying to do everything on their own. Our office is just a simple spot where we meet up to talk about what’s going on in the fields. You’ll usually find someone there drinking tea and complaining about the rain or the lack of it. We deal with all sorts of crops that come out of this Uttar Pradesh dirt. It’s not a fancy operation by any means. We just wanted a way to make sure the guys growing the food actually get to see some of the money from it. Jaunpur is a busy place, and the market can be a bit of a mess if you don’t have people backing you up. Most days, we’re just busy moving bags around or checking on the latest harvest. It’s honest work, even if it’s tiring. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It is just us farmers from around the 222001 area trying to make things work a little bit better for everyone involved in the group.
