Out here in Patehara Kalan, things move at their own pace. You can find us at Hemant Narayan Mishra's place, which most people around here already know. Kanahaipur Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just a bunch of us neighbors trying to get a better handle on our farming work. We aren't doing anything fancy or complicated. Most of the day is spent checking on the fields or sitting around talking about the cost of fertilizer and how the pests are acting this year. Kubari Patehara is a good area, but it has its challenges like anywhere else. We didn't want to keep working alone, so we put our names together to make this company. It sounds official, but really it is just a way for us to help each other out when it comes time to sell what we grow. We don’t have a big marketing team or a flashy website. If you want to talk to us, you just come by the house and see what’s going on. The dirt under our fingernails tells you more about what we do than any piece of paper could. Sometimes the crops are great, and sometimes they aren't, but we stay busy regardless. It’s hard work and the sun is hot, but having the group makes it feel a little less heavy. We’re just local people doing what our fathers and grandfathers did, just trying to be a bit smarter about it for the future.
