Kalan Farmer Producer Company Limited

Kalan Farmer Producer Company is mostly just a local effort. We operate out of Geeta Devi’s house in Lalpurbadhera, right near the post office in Kalan. Geeta is Ram Saran’s daughter, and she lets us use the space to organize things for the farmers in this part of Shahjahanpur. It’s a quiet village, and most of us have been farming these lands for as long as we can remember. We decided to get together as a group because selling stuff alone was getting complicated. Sometimes the prices aren't fair, or we can't get the right fertilizers when we need them. So, we sit together in the yard or near the entrance of the house and talk things through. It’s nothing like those big companies in the cities. We wear our everyday clothes and get our hands dirty. Some days we are just sitting around drinking tea and planning for the next planting season. Other days, it’s a rush to get things moved. We use what we have. It’s just how things are in Lalpurbadhera. People know where to find us if they need to talk about their crops. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just making sure the people in our little corner of Shahjahanpur have a fair shake. It’s hard work, but being together makes it a little bit lighter for everyone involved. We just keep moving one day at a time, looking at the crops and the sky.
