Jay Cement Bricks

Down in Village Kanti, near Siroli, is where we have Jay Cement Bricks. Unlike the red clay ones you see elsewhere, we focus on the cement blocks. We have a small yard where we mix the sand and cement. It’s a bit cleaner than a clay kiln but still heavy work. We have a couple of machines that help us press the blocks so they come out the same size. Then they have to sit and cure for a while. We spend a lot of time spraying them with water to make sure they set right. If they dry too fast in the sun, they can get brittle, so we have to watch them closely. The village is quiet, so we try not to make too much noise too early in the morning. Most of the people who buy from us are building sheds or boundary walls. We don't have a delivery fleet, so usually, people bring their own trailers or hire a local driver to pick up their order. It's just a few of us working here, mostly family. We don't have a website or anything like that, just our location and the word of mouth from people in Kanti and Siroli. We just keep making the blocks as long as there is demand. It's a steady way to earn a living and we like being out here in the fresh air. Sometimes the supplies are hard to get but we manage to keep going anyway.
