Shiva Bricks

Our business is based in Jagatpur, in the Rohania area. It's more of a village setting, which is perfect for a brick kiln because we need the space and the right kind of soil. We’ve been working out of this spot for years. The air is different out here than in the city. Most of our days are spent out in the open, watching the workers mold the bricks and move them to the kilns. It’s a very manual process. There’s a lot of waiting for things to dry and then waiting for them to bake. We have a small office where we keep the records, but mostly we are outside. People from the surrounding villages come to us when they are building a new room or a wall for their livestock. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. You take the road through Rohania and look for the tall chimney. That's usually how people find us. My father started this and now we just keep it going. The work changes with the seasons. When the monsoon hits, everything stops, and we just wait it out. In the evenings, the smoke from the kilns hangs low over the fields, and it’s a very familiar sight for everyone in Jagatpur. We have a couple of stray dogs that have made the yard their home, and they usually bark when a new truck pulls in. It's a simple life out here in Rohania. We enjoy the pace and the connection to the land.
