Bala Ji Brick Industry

Bala Ji Brick Industry is located on Plot No-699 in Village Bakasara. We are in the Zamania area of Ghazipur, not too far from Chandrasekhar Mahavidyalaya. You can often see the students walking by on their way to the college. Our site is pretty large because you need a lot of room for the kilns and the drying beds. Making bricks in Ghazipur is an old tradition, and we just keep it going. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a polished reception desk. You’ll usually find us out in the yard or sitting on a plastic chair under the shade of a tree. We talk to the truck drivers and the laborers all day long. The work is dirty and the smoke from the chimneys is just part of the landscape here. We don't promise anything we can't do. If the bricks aren't ready, we tell you they aren't ready. We prefer being honest about it. The ground gets really muddy after a storm, and sometimes we have to stop work for a bit. It’s just the way it is when you work with the earth. We’ve seen the village grow and more people come to the college, but our plot stays pretty much the same, just keeping on with the brick making. It is a slow process but we don't like to rush things if it means the quality might suffer in the end.
