If you go to Adamapurgorai in Varanasi, you’ll find us at Sudama Pd Yadav’s place. We called ourselves Admapur Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s basically a group of local farmers who wanted to work together instead of struggling on our own. Varanasi is a busy place, but out here in 221307, life moves a bit slower and follows the crops. We spend our mornings looking at the fields and our afternoons dealing with the logistics of moving grain and vegetables. It is noisy sometimes with the tractors and the people talking, but that’s just part of it. We don't have fancy brochures or a marketing team. We just have our hands and the land. Most of us have lived here our whole lives. We know the soil and we know which parts of the field get too much water when it rains. This company is our way of staying connected and making sure we get a fair shake. We sit on plastic chairs and go over the numbers. It isn't always pretty, and sometimes we disagree on things, but we are all neighbors at the end of the day. We just want to keep the farm tradition alive in our village without losing everything to the big buyers. It’s honest work and it keeps us tired but satisfied. There is always more to do than there is time, but that's just farming for you.
