Nutan Vidyalaya

Nutan Vidyalaya is in Dungri, Valsad. It’s a small place, and the school is a big part of the local life here. The building is just one floor mostly, spreading out over a bit of land. We have a fence around the perimeter to keep the stray dogs out, though they still find ways in sometimes. The classrooms are simple and open directly to the outside walkway. We get a lot of breeze because there aren't many big buildings around us. Most of the children here come from families who work nearby, so everyone knows everyone. The teachers often walk to school or come on their mopeds. We have a small tap outside where the kids wash their hands before lunch. The desks are a bit small for the older kids, but we make it work. We don’t have a computer lab or a big sports field, just the basics for a decent education. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when there’s a heavy storm, and we have to move the benches around to keep the books dry. It’s not a fancy place by any means, but it’s where the kids in Dungri come to learn their ABCs and numbers. We just try to keep things organized and make sure the day goes by without too much trouble for anyone.
