Gyan Gangotri Vidyalay

You can find Gyan Gangotri Vidyalay over at number 2 in Dharampur, which is a nice part of the Valsad district. The school is surrounded by a bit more greenery than you’d find in the bigger cities. It’s a peaceful spot, though it gets quite noisy once the students arrive in the morning. The building is a simple two-story setup with a small yard in the front. We’ve got a few benches under the trees where the staff likes to have their tea during the break. The classrooms are filled with the usual stuff—chalk dust, stacks of paper, and rows of benches. We don't have any air conditioning, so we just leave the doors open and let the air circulate. Dharampur has a lot of rain, so we’re used to the sound of water drumming on the roof for weeks at a time. It’s a very standard local school where everyone knows everyone else. We don't spend money on big signs or advertisements; people usually hear about us through word of mouth from their neighbors. The daily routine is pretty much the same year after year. We show up, we ring the bell, and we go through the lessons. It’s a steady, honest kind of life. We are just a small part of this community in Valsad, trying to do our part without making a big fuss about it.
