N M Desai Sarvajanik High School is tucked away near the BRS College in Dharampur. Being here in the Valsad district means we get a lot of local students from the surrounding areas. The school building has been around for a while, and it shows in some corners, but it serves its purpose well enough. We have teenagers coming in every morning, mostly preoccupied with their friends or their upcoming tests. The atmosphere is generally busy, with teachers heading to their rooms and the bell ringing to signal the end of a period. We don’t have fancy stuff, just the basic classrooms and a bit of space for the kids to walk around during their breaks. Managing a high school takes a bit of effort, especially with all the paperwork and keeping track of so many students. We see the seasons change from the school windows, from the heavy rains in Valsad to the hotter months when the fans are always spinning. The town of Dharampur is a comfortable place, and being near the college makes this little area a bit of an education hub for the locals. We just focus on the daily tasks, like making sure the blackboards are clean and the attendance is taken. It’s a straightforward life at the school, where we just aim to get through the day’s lessons without too much trouble. It is what it is, a place for local kids to get their high school education.
