The shop is right here in Rajeshwari Market, tucked into the Dabhoi Vadodari Bhagol area. It is a busy spot, especially on the weekends when everyone seems to have broken their phone screen at the same time. I usually get here early to open the shutters and sweep up before the first few people start trickling in. Most of the work involves sitting at the back bench with small screwdrivers and trying to figure out why a battery won't hold a charge anymore. We have boxes of different cables and cases piled up on the shelves because people always need a spare. The market gets quite loud around midday with all the traffic and people shouting across the lanes. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just keep working with what we have. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights or glass walls. It’s just a regular shop where we fix things and talk to the neighbors. I spend a lot of time looking at tiny circuit boards under a lamp. My hands get a bit dirty from the dust inside the old handsets, but that is part of the job. Some days are slow and we just sit outside on the stools watching the cars go by on the main road. We keep a stock of screen guards and some basic headphones for whoever needs them quickly. If you walk past the main Bhagol, you can see our sign pretty clearly. It is just a simple place for phone stuff.
