Vandana Travels

Our office for Vandana Travels is in the Kalpvrux Complex, which is on Gotri Road in Vadodara. It’s right near the T. B. Hospital, so it’s easy for people to find us if they are in the neighborhood. I have been sitting at this same desk for a few years now, surrounded by old maps and stacks of ticket printouts. The office is small, D 204 to be exact, and it gets quite warm in the summer months even with the AC on. We handle a lot of different travel requests, from bus tickets to longer trips. Most of my day is spent on the phone or typing things into the old computer system. People come in from the hospital area or the nearby residential blocks wanting to know about prices and timings. It’s not a fancy corporate setup; we have a few chairs for customers and a lot of files everywhere. Outside, Gotri Road is always full of cars and bikes, and the noise sometimes makes it hard to hear the customers. We just do our work, drink tea when the boy brings it from the stall downstairs, and try to make sure everyone gets their tickets on time. It is a simple life here in Gujarat, and we like the routine of it. We’ve been in this complex for a long time and know most of the other shop owners nearby who stop by to chat.
