We started this little group for Trekking In Pavagadh because we live right here in B-5/45 Pratap Nagar Police Line and the hill is basically in our backyard. It wasn't really a business at first, just a few of us heading out early on Sunday mornings before the sun got too hot. Pavagadh has all these steep steps and hidden paths that people usually miss if they just take the ropeway up to the temple. We figured we could show people the actual woods and the old ruins along the way. Our space is pretty small and tucked away near the police quarters, so it’s not some fancy office with big signs. We mostly just sit around with some water bottles and maps, talking about which trail is too muddy after the rain. Sometimes the monkeys are a real pain, but that is part of the whole thing. People come by after work to ask what kind of shoes they need or if the climb is too hard for kids. We tell them the truth, even if it means they decide not to go. It’s better than having someone get stuck halfway up the mountain. We’ve seen the seasons change on that hill for years now. The monsoon makes everything green, but the rocks get slippery. We just like being out there instead of sitting inside all day. If you find the police line, you’ll find us easily enough.
