The Technical Cell

Operating out of the G.I.D.C. Industrial Estate in Makarpura means you are always surrounded by the hum of machinery. Our spot is at 903 / 6, and it is a typical industrial unit. It has high ceilings, some grease on the floor here and there, and plenty of tools lying around on the benches. We at The Technical Cell aren’t really the suit-and-tie types. Most days, we are in our work clothes, dealing with whatever technical issue or project is in front of us. The air usually smells a bit like metal and oil, which is what you expect in this part of town. We have a routine that works for us. Usually, one of us gets here a bit early to open the shutters and get the lights on. It takes a while to get everything warmed up and ready. We handle a lot of different tasks, mostly stuff that people bring in because it stopped working or needs a very specific part. It can be frustrating when a part doesn’t fit or a machine is being stubborn, but we just keep at it until it is sorted. We don’t have a receptionist or a fancy waiting area for guests. If you come by, you will just see us working. We grab lunch from the small food stalls nearby most days. The industrial estate is a busy place, and we are just one small part of it.
