Our workshop is tucked away behind JVC Engineers in the GIDC area of Makarpura. If you’ve ever been to this part of Baroda, you know it’s mostly just trucks and the sound of metal hitting metal all day long. We do a lot of fabrication work here. It’s not a quiet job. Most of the guys have been with us for years and they know exactly how to handle the welding torches and the heavy cutters without needing much instruction. We deal with a lot of raw iron and steel. There’s always dust on the floor and grease on the benches. That’s just part of the trade. We take on jobs that some of the bigger firms don’t want to mess with because they are too small or too fiddly. Sometimes we help out with bigger parts for industrial machines. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we’re checking a drawing. Most of the real thinking happens right there on the shop floor with a piece of chalk in hand. The heat in the afternoon can be tough, especially when the welding machines are running, but we get used to it. We keep our tools organized, mostly, though sometimes things go missing for a minute or two. We just focus on getting the structures built solid so they don’t cause problems later. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening, just making things that last for the local industry.
