S. K. Engineering

S. K. Engineering is based at Plot No. 323/a/5 within the Gidc Ind. Estate. It is a bit of a maze in here sometimes, with all the different plots and small roads winding between the buildings. Our plot isn't the biggest, but we make the most of the space we have. There are workbenches lined up against the walls and a lot of scrap metal kept in the corner for later use. We spend a lot of time measuring and cutting, and you can always hear the sound of a grinder or a drill going off somewhere. The lighting isn't always the best, so we have some extra lamps around the machines to see what we are doing. We usually start the day by opening up the big metal doors to let some fresh air in. It gets pretty dusty inside, so we give the place a quick sweep once a week, though it never stays clean for long. Most of us have been doing this kind of work for years, so it is second nature by now. We don't really use much technology beyond what is needed for the machines. Most of the planning is done on a whiteboard near the door. It is a simple setup at 323/a/5, and we prefer it that way. We just show up, do the engineering work that needs doing, and go home at the end of the shift to our families.
